What is Life? Global Warming or Cooling（地球温暖化それとも寒冷化）

Good morning everyone. We got 4 cm of snow in our area last month, which was the first of this year. How was it around your town? 

みなさんお早うございます。先月4cmもの雪が降りました。今年初めての積雪でした。みなさんの所ではいかがでしたか？

Today's theme is the Global Warming, which is considered as threat for all human kind, you know?. Since the industrial revolution, the number of population and the amount of wastage of fuel has been increasing exponentially, especially in last 20 years. By these industrial growing, rising of atmospheric temperature are reported at various area of the world. 

本日のテーマは人類の脅威とも考えられている「地球温暖化」についてです。いいですか？産業革命以降、人口と燃料の消費は特にこの２０年間で爆発的に増加しています。この工業の発達によって世界中あらゆるところで大気の温度上昇が報告されています。

Also in this country, most of us noticed that the summer has become sweaty and more lethal than our childhood. And we hear that such warming phenomena are expanded in various area of the planet.

もちろん我が国でも子どもの頃に比べて夏が死にそうに暑くなっている事に多くの人が気がついている事でしょう。そしてそうした気象変動が地球の至る所に広がっているとも聞いた事があるでしょう。

For many years, meteorological observation and political force have searched the reason of these dramatical changes, which should be familiar for people. And finally, they have decided the candidate. It's carbon footprint, known as CO2.

何年もの間、気象学的観察と政治の力はこの劇的な変化の「人々に理解されやすい」理由を探してきました。そして、遂に彼らは二酸化炭素こそがその犯人だと決めつけたのです。

Just five years has passed from the release of "Inconvenient Truth" produced by Al Gore, who was a vice president of United States. He emphasized and concluded that the global warming is occurring by the increasing of carbon footprint emitted from industrial activity. Because his movie comprises many shocking environmental alterations, most people have believed his insistence of the movie.

アメリカ合衆国の副大統領だったアル・ゴア氏が制作した「不都合な真実」という映画が放映されてからちょうど５年が経ちました。彼は地球温暖化が産業活動によって排出される二酸化炭素によって引き起こされていることを殊更強調し結論づけました。彼のその映画は多くのショッキングな環境変化によって構成されているため、多くの人々は彼のその映画の主張を信じてしまいました。

By the way, are you remember that the concentration of gas dissolved in water are decreasing by heating of it? Most people leaned the theory as basis of nature in high school, right? Even though you have forgotten the fact, you may know the bubble in cola?

ところで、みなさんは水の中に溶けている気体の濃度が温度上昇によって減少する事を覚えていらっしゃいますか？ほとんどの方はこの自然の基本原理を中学か高校で学んでいる筈です。もし忘れてしまっていても、コーラの泡の事はご存知ですよね。

What is Life? VIRTUAL or REAL?

Good morning everyone. I am very sorry without updating this class by a kind of personal reason. Anyway, let me introduce something surprise about education today. As a few people may know, the great application and tools for learning were shipped yesterday, in which developed by Apple. Apple has been focusing on education market for more than twenty years.

皆さんお早うございます。すみません、個人的な事がちょっとあって、更新が滞っておりました。さて、本日は教育に関する驚くべきことについて紹介させてください。かなり多くの方がご存知だとは思いますが、アップルによって開発された教育目的の素晴らしいアプリケーションとツールが発表されました。アップルは２０年以上も教育分野に注力してきました。

However, the actual tools for learning in many school or University had been replaced Mac by PCs in last decade. But such condition of school is changing since the iPad. iPad has been used as interactive learning tools by mainly use of Web contents, and some iPad application.

しかしながら、学校や大学でのそうしたツールはこの１０年間の間にMacからWindows PCに取って代わられてきました。しかし、そうした状態はiPadの発売以来変わってきています。iPadは主にWebコンテンツや教育目的のアプリを利用する事でインタラクティブな学習ツールとなってきました。

Apple introduced phenomenal software based on Mac and iPad as textbook. Those two software are iBooks 2 and iBooks Author, respectively. You can see all of that in Apple Special Event. iBooks 2 is Virtual or Real Textbook which can replace actual one with the iPad. And iBooks Author is an authoring tool to construct interactive textbook containing Texts, Photos, Movies, and also Keynote Presentations!

この度、アップルはMacとiPadの使用を前提とした驚くべき「教科書」アプリを発表しました。それがiBooks 2とiBooks Authorなのです。 それらをアップルのスペシャルイベント（英語）で見る事ができます。iBooks 2はiPadに教科書を詰め込む事が可能で、実際の（教科書本）を置き換えることが出来るのです。そして、そのデジタル教科書をつくるためのツールがiBooks AuthorというMac用アプリケーションで、文章、写真、ムービーに加えてキーノートで作成したプレゼンテーションまでも含む事が出来るのです。

Surprisingly, Phill Shiller as Senior Vice President of Apple expressed the main object of the products at the start of the keynote speech as following. The aim of those are advancement of education level of students in U.S. How are Japanese textbook publishers and government think about it? If you have already possess much contents should be show others, would you try self-publishing with iBooks Author on your Mac? It's very simple and easy. 

驚くべきはアップルの上級副社長Phill Schiller氏がこの発表の最初に語った「このプロジェクトはアメリカの教育レベルを向上させる為のもの」と語った事です。日本の政府（文科省）や教科書出版社はどのように感じていますかね？もしあなたが誰か他の人に教えたい何かをたくさんもってるのであれば、Macで教科書を作ってみてはどうでしょうか。

What is Life? What should we do in our Life? 人生で何をなすべきだろう？

Good morning everyone. How are you doing? Are you enjoying this autumn? Today's theme is the aim to live. As you may know, Steve P Jobs as a leader of Apple had passed away by cancerous decease few days ago. Many researchers are following the mechanism of the decease to save human life, however over million of people are suffering of it with mortal fear even now.

皆さんお早うございます。ご機嫌いかがですか？秋を楽しんでいらっしゃいますか？本日のテーマは生きる意義についてです。あなたもご存知のように、AppleのリーダーであるSteve Jobs氏が癌によって数日前に亡くなりました。多くの研究者が人の命を助ける為にその病気のメカニズムを研究しています。しかしながら、今でも多くの人々がこの病に罹り、死の恐怖に苛まれています。

Hi Steve, we are respecting you, because you have taught us the importance of life by showing the serious action for challenging to change the world. In the most famous speech at Stanford University, you showed the aim to live by your history.

スティーブさん、私たちはあなたをとても尊敬しています。なぜならあなたは世界を変える為の挑戦を示す事で人生の大切さを教えてくれました。スタンフォード大学における最も有名なスピーチにおいて、あなたは生い立ちを話す事で生きる意味を教えてくれました。

The purpose to live may not be same for each person, but the aim would be same. It's to live with following the dream and share it your lovers for next generation. You said "Stay Hungry, Stay Foolish". Yes, I will. It's the middle point of my life.

Dear Mr Jobs

We have heard bad news in Internet. We are very appreciated for you as Apple users. Macintosh made us happy, iPhone as well. You came back to Apple and made it No.1 company by following the best. You have actually changed the world.

As you have forgotten, I had received an e-mail from you about "Tell Us Project" just after you returned to Apple. That e-mail was already lost, however your spirits must not been lost in the world.

What is Life? Restart: The Origin of Life (2)（再開：生命の起源２）

Good morning everyone. How are you doing? I have to apologize you for waiting so long time. To rebuild my life, I had to use several month. 

皆様お早うございます。いかがお過ごしでしょうか。長い間更新が滞っておりまして申し訳ございません。色々ありまして、しばらく時間がかかってしまいました。

Anyway, as a theme of restart of What is Life?, we have to think the origin of life again. As you may know, some kinds of source of life have been detected in meteorite (stardust stone) found in antarctic land by NASA. They were family of nucleic acids as source of DNA and RNA.

さて、What is Life?を再開するにあたって、私たちはやはり生物の起源に関して考えるべきではないでしょうか。皆さんもご存知のように先日NASAによって、南極大陸の隕石から生命の元となるものが見つかりました。それらは核酸の一部でDNAやRNAの元となるものでした。

Several month ago, Sammy reported the origin of life in this class. The chemical generation of some amino acids in electrical field were shown experimentally in 1953 by Dr Miller. However, the origin of nucleic acids have been still unknown.

数ヶ月前にサミぃはこのブログにおいて、アミノ酸の一部は1953年にミラー博士によって化学的に電場において産生されることが実験的に示されている事をお伝え致しました。しかし、肝心の核酸に関しては長い間その起源が分からなかったのです。

This finding is quite interesting for me. However, it may not be direct evidence of universal origin theory. But what do you think against the finding? If our ancestor came from the Universe…

今回の発見は確かに興味深いものです。しかし、それが必ずしも生命宇宙起源説の直接証拠とはならないのではないでしょうか。しかし、皆さんは今回の発見をどのようにお考えでしょうか。もし私たちの先祖が宇宙から来たのだとしたら、、、。
