What is Life? ゾウリムシの感情（Passion in paramecium）

What is Life? 赤緑色盲について（About Daltonism: Color Blindness ）

皆様お早うございます。寒くなってきましたね。先日のAppleからのMacBook Airの発表は驚きました。1.06 kgで11.4 inch液晶でモバイルノートでFaceTime Camera搭載で88,800円。これは必ず日本でバカ売れすると思います。

Good morning everyone. Is it cold today? Yesterday, the Apple released new MacBook Air. It was shocked. It is 1.06 kg weight, 11.4 inch LED backlight screen, Intel Core2 Duo, FaceTime Camera, and only 88,800 yen. It's unbelievable. It must be the biggest sales in Japan ever. I think so. 

で、今日は赤緑色盲についてです。皆さんはこの赤緑色盲についてご存知ですか？この原因遺伝子は性染色体であるX染色体上に存在しているので、女性の場合はX(-)X(-)である劣勢ホモにならないと発症しません。X(+)X(+)やX(+)X(-)では発症しないのです。これを性染色体上劣性遺伝といいます。昔に習ったメンデル遺伝を忘れた人はこちらをどうぞ。

Today, the class of What is Life? is about Daltonism (color blindness green-red). The master gene of the disease exists on the X chromosome determine the gender of us. And the gene has the recessive character on the sex chromosome. Therefore, if the girl has X(+)X(+) or X(+)X(-), the expression is normal. It is the Mendelian inheritance. You should study it again, if you had forgotten it. It is the basis of Biology.

実はサミぃは赤緑色弱です。信号なんかは大丈夫なのです、小学校で調べる本はなぞられても分かりませんでした。特に朱色と黄緑色は見分けられません。しかしそれでも生きています。生き物です。息子たち（XY）には遺伝していないはずなので一安心です。でも娘がいたらそれは保因者なので、サミぃの孫（男の子）は色弱になる可能性があります。

In fact, I am a patient of such color-blindness. But it is not so serious. I can distinguish the traffic signals (telegraph), and also had already obtained the driving passport. I am living, and of course a organism. My sons are not patients. It is my pleasure. But if I have a daughter, she has the gene of color blindness. So my grandson have possibility to be the patient.

What is Life? おいしいコーヒーの入れ方（The method of Coffee）

皆様おはようございます。だいぶ寒くなってきましたね。まだレポートは受け付けています。これまでのWhat is Life?で興味があった事、知りたい事などございましたら"What is Life?"のレポートとして提出して下さい。

さて、本日はコーヒーのおいしい入れ方です。みなさんはコーヒーをお好きですか？多くの方はイエスというでしょう。では、ご自身でコーヒーを入れていますか？そのご自身で入れたコーヒーはおいしいですか？せっかくそろえたミルやコーヒーポットなどがあっても、コーヒーのおいしい入れ方を知らないとおいしいコーヒーは飲めません。本当はコーヒーというのはおいしいものなのです。

Here, I explain the basic method of Coffee. Do you like coffee? Most of you may say yes. But do you extract by yourself? Do you have coffee set for extracting? In the fact, the coffee is so tasty. You should study the basic method of coffee today on "What is Life?".

先日ある病院にあるスターバックスに行ってきました。店長さんに「コーヒーに自信有りますか？」と聞くと、彼は「あります、どうぞ」と試飲を勧めてくれました。サミぃはこうした場合、その自信を信用しません。実際に飲んでみましたがあまりおいしくはありませんでした。自分で入れた方がよっぽどましだったからです。

The other day, I arrived at the STARBUCKS in the hospital. I asked to the manager as follows "Do you have assurance of the coffee?" He said Yes. So I tried it. But it was not so good compared with the coffee extracted by myself.

サミぃは彼にためしてガッテンをチェックするように勧めました。過去においしいコーヒーの入れ方をやっていたのです。基本は以下の通りです。

（１）まずコーヒーの粉にはおいしい成分と、おいしくない成分があり

（２）最初にお湯を注いで粉を膨らませて（２０秒まって）

（３）少量のお湯を数回に分けて注いで

（４）おいしい成分だけ出たらそこでやめること

これが基本です。

Therefore, I asked him to check the older contents about the method of extracting coffee on website of NHK. The basic is described in below.

(1) There are two components in coffee powder, tasty and not.

(2) Pore boiled water to the powder to swell it (wait for 20 sec).

(3) Pore necessary volume of boiled water on the swelled powder with rotation by 2-3 times.

(4) Stop the poring when the tasty components is extracted.

This is the basic method.

さて、お金を出してまでおいしくないコーヒーを飲むくらいなら自分で入れてみてはいかがですか？これもサイエンスです。一方で「お客様に快適な空間を提供する事が喫茶室OOの使命でございます」というところはとてもおいしくなかったのです。つまり、おいしくない成分も先負抽出してしまったのでしょうね。ためしてガッテンを見れば良いのにね(^^;)。

It is autumn should be tried everything. If you have enough time, please try to prepare tasty coffee by your self. It is Science. What is Life? 生物多様性COP10会議（Biodiversity COP10）

皆様お早うございます。本日の写真は私の第２の故郷の一枚です。

Good morning everyone. How are you today? It's cloudy and little cool. Today's photo is my second country. I stayed at there for nine years when I was young.

さて、現在名古屋で生物多様性会議COP10が開かれています。COP10とはConference of the Partiesの略で、国際条約を結んだ国が集まる会議のことだそうです。今回の会議のテーマは「遺伝資源へのアクセスと利益配分」だそうです。簡単に言うと、「薬」を作る先進国と、その「材料となる自然」をもつ途上国との間のお金の話のようです。

As you may know, the COP10 (Conference of the Parties) is running at Nagoya. The main theme of the meeting is distribution of gain from all of organisms between rich countries and poor countries in the planet, although the title is Biological Diversity.

そもそも生物多様性とは何でしょうか？生き物は人に利用されるものなのでしょうか？確かに薬の材料になる不思議な物質は世界にたくさんあります。その代表例がこの前ご説明した抗生物質です。

All of you should think about "what is biological diversity?" There are numerous species in the planet. And they contain various materials, for example proteins, nucleotides, lipids, or other specific materials produced by their body. Most famous material is antibiotics as described before before. Should they be utilized for us? They are Life!! And you also!

私はかねてからヒトは特別な存在ではない、単なる生き物の一種だと言ってきました。ではなぜ、ヒト以外の生き物はヒトのために「命を使われる」のでしょうか。そもそも「多様性」とはなんでしょうか？何故今、クマさんが殺されているのでしょうか？かわいそうなクマさん。彼あるいは彼女にも家族がいたはずです。生物多様性をお金で論じる前に、やるべきことがやまほど有るのだと私は信じます。

From the first of "What is Life?", I am showing my opinion that We are not special, We are a member of Life. Why can we use Life of other species? Who did permit the utilization of Life? What is Biological Diversity? Why are pretty bears killed in Japan now? They are member of their family? He or her has friends. Why? We have expanded our life area with killing other species in hundreds of years. I believe that we have to finish many things around us before discussing about Biological Diversity = Money Distribution. It is very simple and also easy.

結論

（１）生物多様性はお金の分配

（２）何故殺していいのか？

（３）クマさんはなぜ殺すのか？

Conclusion

(1) The biological diversity is distribution of money in COP10.

(2) Why can we kill other species?

(3) Why should we kill pretty bears?

What is Life? 実りの秋（Autumn for harvest）

みなさんおはようございます。私は今、仕事でマロウドイン大宮というところに滞在しています。朝ご飯に自信があるそうなので、期待しています。大宮へお越しの際は是非どうぞ。

Good morning everyone. I am staying at MaRRoad Inn Omiya hotel for work and meeting. I heard that the hotel has assurance for the breakfast. So I am looking forward to it. If you arrived at Omiya, please stay at the hotel. 

さて、今は読書の秋、スポーツの秋、食欲の秋などと言われております。収穫祭のようなものが、各地で開催されています。その理由は秋に多くの収穫が有り、そうして得た作物で神様に感謝するからです。

At now, it is autumn for reading, sports, and eating. There are many festivals at all around Japan in autumn. Form ancient Japan, we could harvest many crops and show acknowledgment for the land, whose name is God.

そんなときに写真のような素敵なケーキを見つけました。とてもおいしそうです。でも、そこには様々なフルーツがのっています、彼らは喜んでいるでしょうか？種を蒔いて彼らの子孫繁栄に貢献したでしょうか？とても難しい問題です。でも多分とてもおいしいはずです。秋は満喫するべきです。

Yesterday, I found beautiful cakes as you can see below. It may be so nice and yummy. And there were many fruits on the cake. On the other hand, we showed acknowledgments of harvest for God, and must show it for them with "Itadakimasu". But are they happy? Could we contribute for them? DId we seed their children? However it must be yummy. Let's enjoy the autumn.
